Drug Addiction is a Treatable Disease
There has been a big push recently to focus more on treatment and rehabilitation for drug abusers and less on law enforcement and punishment for drug possession. While many people support drug prevention and treatment strategies, it is difficult to move a country in that direction that has spent 40 years pushing for stricter punishments.

Addicts and Honesty- Sometimes people in recovery share wildly exaggerated drinking and using histories. What do you do when rigorous honesty doesn't come easy?
There's an old AA mantra that goes something like "You can tell when an addict is lying, because their lips are moving." Lying goes part and parcel with being addicted: in a society that stigmatizes and legislates against the addict, lying is often simply a matter of self-preservation. But why is it that when we break the cycle of addiction, the lies often follow us into our sober existence?
